Chapter 28 - The Last Adventures
of Koroviev and Behemoth |

| Okay, I
know that most of you don't speak Russian. And, even if you once did,
like me, you have probably forgotten most of it. I'm going to try
to explain what's going on, but I'm not going to do a very good job
of it. First of all, I haven't read the book in a few years and while
I have another copy of it here, it is the first translation, the
Ginsburg Translation - and as I understand it, the novel's text was
heavily
censored so as to get it published in Soviet Russia in
the sixies (the novel itself was written in the thirties). Anyway,
it seems that this particular episode I illustrated is completely
absent from the Ginsburg Translation. So, if you are attempting to
follow
along
from
home,
start with the
Burgin/O'Connor Translation. |

| Second warning-
I have not spared a thought for Russian since January 1, 2000. So
my hasty translations aren't perhaps going to be the most helpful
things in the world. |
